Congratulations to Sarah and Joel! Yesterday we all welcomed baby Olivia to the world. She was 7lbs, 11oz and she arrived around 4pm. She is the cutest little thing with lots of dark hair. I forgot how small babies are and can’t believe at one time Kaylee was that small. Makes me realize how fast time goes by. You would think I would have remembered my camera but nope. We are going to visit on Tuesday so I will take some pics then.

I recently heard of another puppy mill raid here in WA - specifically Kennewick, WA. This one especially made my stomach turn because all of the 400 dogs that were rescued were American Eskimos. That is Denali’s breed. This really does make me sick to my stomach and I feel so bad for these poor dogs considering some of them have lived their lives in a shopping cart covered with a wood panel and have never even touch solid ground. I really do wish that I could foster or adopt one (or two) of these animals and show them what life could really be like. It just breaks my heart.
Because I can’t take in another dog (Jeff would absolutely have my head) right now, I take part in the Furry 5k which helps support one of our local animal shelters. This year I’m especially looking forward to it because the weather will be absolutely perfect and I’m walking it with an old friend that I have recently re-connected with. It should be fun and even better to know that I’m helping a great cause.

Ugh…I had just written a long, updated post and somehow I lost it. I’m not very motivated to type it all again but I will.
I figured since it’s been awhile, I should write a few things and update those of you who even still read this.
This weekend we are taking our annual trip down to Portland for Jeff’s soccer tournament. This year he didn’t have enough guys commit to going so he has combined with another team this year. It actually will be better I think because he can enjoy himself more and not worry about getting the team to the right field and ON TIME. It will be quite a different experience with Kaylee in tow. I’m anticipating the worst and by that I mean not having the freedom to go here and there whenever we want. I really don’t think it will be that bad it’s just that we now have another little person to think about. Another thing to get used to.
I had my 32nd bday recently and I’ve come to realize that they just aren’t as exciting as they used to be. Just that I’m another year older. Aunt Suzanne was here so that was great. She got to meet Kaylee and we got some good pics out of the visit.
Kaylee turns 8 months on the 30th. That’s right…I said EIGHT months! It seems like yesterday I was in the hospital. On the other hand, it feels like it has been years. She recently started eating Cheerios which I think she thoroughly enjoys becasue she makes these “mmma mmmm mmmma” noises when she eats them. I swear she’s saying ma, ma though.
She can’t quite pick them up with her fingers yet but she sure tries! I also think she will start crawling here pretty soon. We give her tummy time and she rolls every which way. When she’s on her tummy she will stick her butt up in the air and looks like she’s trying to lunge forward. So cute to watch.
So I think that is enough for now. My goal is to post updates more often so we will see how that goes.

On Sunday we had Kaylee’s 6 month photos taken. We weren’t expecting to get them back so quick but they appeared in our mail yesterday. Here is a taste of way too many good ones to choose from.

Happy 30th to John today! The Kovac “kids” are all now officially adults. Happy Birthday John. Tomorrow we are going to a bday bbq to celebrate which should be a good time.
On Sunday we have an appointment to get Kaylee’s 6 months pictures taken. Wish us luck. First time getting professional pics so we’ll see how it goes. I’m not thinking it’s gonna go bad but I’m hoping we get some good ones. Busy weekend but it’ll be worth it.

My friend Kelly from Colorado is flying in today to spend the weekend with us. We haven’t seen eachother since my wedding so this is quite a treat. AND since we don’t get very many out of town visitors (yes, those of you in NY, I’m talking to you!) I am very excited! Especially now that Kaylee is here. Hmmmm…what to do?!?!
Oh yeah, Happy Valentines Day!

Denali goes to a doggie daycare - yes, they actually have these around - twice a week so that he can run around and play with other dogs since he doesn’t get out much with us at home anymore. (Which will change once it gets nicer and warmer outside.) This daycare has about 7 acres out in the middle of nowhere and I guess the other day he decided to take a leisurely swim in a huge mud puddle. This is the picture they took right before the were going to hose him down.

This is not nearly as bad as I thought and he has gotten a ton worse before, where you would think he looked like a mini black Lab. I’m just thankful we aren’t the ones that have to clean him up! At least you know he had a fab, fun time! And the bonus… he comes home exhausted.

We just found out that Sarah and Joel are having a girl! I’m so excited for the two of them and also for Kaylee. I think it is great that she will have a cousin to grow up with. Because I never grew up around mine, I never got to experience that and I think this is fabulous news!
Congratulations Joel and Sarah! Time to start the shopping! Can’t wait.

One of our New Year’s resolutions was to plan a date night once a month now that Kaylee is here. Last night my parents came over to watch Kaylee while Jeff and I went to dinner. This was the first time since we had baby that we had a nice dinner and conversation - alone. It was so nice to get out, just the two of us. Can’t wait for next months date!
